Llithfaen lays on the southern slopes of yr Eifl. These volcanic peaks are crowned by Tre'r Ceiri which is one of the most spectacular of Wales' ancient monuments.

The village lies along the B4417 the main northern coastal road into Llyn. There is a public house in the center of the village- 'Y Fic', and a village shop that is run by the community.

Nant Gwrtheyrn is a Welsh language center.
