1862 - Chwef 2il, Cafodd y Sgwner "Diligence", (a adeiladwyd yn Nefyn) ei dryllio yn Abersoch. 'Roedd yn cario cargo o glai pibell ac yn teithio i Newry.


1863 - Adeiladwyd y Sgwner "Ocean Maid" yn Nefyn.


1863 - Cafodd Robert Rees o Forfa Nefyn fedal Efydd gan y R.N.L.I. am iddo achub 23 oddi ar y "Bodvel" a llongau eraill a ddrylliwyd ym Mhorthdinllaen ar yr un diwrnod.

1863 - Rhag 3ydd, Cafodd y Sgwner "Bardsey" ei dryllio oddi ar Borthdinllaen.


1864 - Sefydlwyd gorsaf bad achub Porthdinllaen. Y "Cotton Sheppard" oedd y bad achub cyntaf yno.


1864 - Collwyd y Sgwner "Racer" oddi ar Enlli.


1865 - Drylliwyd llong o'r Awstralia oddi ar Rhiw.


1866 - Rhag. 6ed drylliwyd y Sgwner "Henry Catherine" oddi ar Borth Neigwl un yn unig a gafodd ei achub.

- Ion. bu i'r stemar "Cardigan" a llong arall daro yn erbyn eu gilydd ym Mae Ceradigion tra ar daith o Geredigion i Felffast. Daeth ir lan ym Mhwllheli yno y bu hyd nes y drylliodd yn llwyr.

1877 - Ffurfiwyd y "Britain Iron Sailing Ship Co." yn Nefyn.

1878- Yr oedd cyfanswm gwerth y llongau a yswyriwyd gan wahanol gwmniau yswyriant o Nefyn dros £2,000,000 yn y flwyddyn yma.

1904 - Drylliwyd y Sgwner "Miss Prichard" (a adeiladwyd yn Nefyn yn1870) oddi ar Cape wrath, roedd ar ei ffordd i Copenhagen yn cario llechi.

1905 - Drylliwyd y Sgwner "Gowerian" yn Abersoch.

1907 - Maw 16eg, Drylliwyd y Sgwner "Brothers" a adeiladwyd yn Nefyn, oddi ar Abersoch.

1916 - Gwelwyd nifer o longau tanfor o'r Almaen oddi ar arfordir Llyn.

1917 - Gwelwyd y llong deithio C.P.R. yn mynd heibio ar ei thaith drwy swnt Enlli.

1917 - Gwelwyd sawl gosgordd yn mynd heibio, oddi ar arfordir Llyn.

1918 - Cafoddd y llong deithio "Oransa" ei thorpidio oddi ar Enlli.

1918- Darganfeuwyd nifer o gyrff o'r llongau "Leinster" a "Burutu" ar hyd arfordir Llyn.

1932 - M.V. Maraboe ddaeth I'r lan yn Ngharreg y Llam 28 ain 1932. Tynnwyd hi oddiyno 29ain. Gan y tynfad Ranger.

1933 - Maw 22ain. Cafodd cwch bach gada dau ddyn arno, a oedd yn pysgota yn Nhudweiliog ei chwythu allan i'r mor a glaniodd yn saff 35 awr yn ddiweddarach yn County Down yn Iwerddon.

1934 - Awst. Suddodd y stemar "Pultney" mewn gwrthdrawiad gyda s.s. "Thelma" oddi ar Enlli. 'Roedd yn cario glo o Benmaenmawr.

1934 - Hyd. Daeth y Stemar "Dimitros Inglesos" o Roeg i'r lan ym Mhorthdinllaen iw thrwsio.

1934 - Bu farw Mrs Jones Ty Coch Inn, yr unig ddynes "Harbourmaster" yn y wlad.

1934 - Gwelodd pobl Aberdaron yr R.M.S. "Queen Mary" yn pasio ar ei thaith, heibio Enlli.

1935 - Drylliwyd yr iot "Helfa" oddi ar Edern.

1941- Bomiwyd tancer olew ai rhoi ar dan oddi ar arfordir Llyn.

1942 - Rhag. Tarodd y Stemar "Knut" o Ddenmarc ffrwydron oddi ar Enlli. Glaniodd 15 o'r criw ym mad achub y llong ym Mhorthdinllaen.

1942 - Daeth llawer o ffrwydron i'r lan ar arfordir Llyn.

1951- Ddrylliwyd yr "Amy Summerfield yn Nghaer Nant 1951.

1860 -1879

1861- A steamer was wrecked at Hell's mouth.

1861 - 715 vessels put in to Portdinllaen during the year.


1862 - The Barque "Mary Pughe" of 765 tons was built at Pwllheli.

1862 - Feb 22nd, The Schooner "Diligence", built at Nefyn, was wrecked at Abersoch whilst on a voyage to Newry with a cargo of pipe clay.


1863 - The Schooner "Ocean Maid" was built at Nefyn.


1863 - Robert Rees of Morfa Nefyn was awarded the Bronze medal by the R.N.L.I. for saving 23 lives from the "Bodvel" and other vessels wrecked at Porthdinllaen on the same day.

1863 - Dec 3rd., the Schooner "Bardsey" was wrecked off Porthdinllaen.


1864 - Porthdinllaen lifeboat station established. The first lifeboat there was the "Cotton Sheppard".


1864 - The Schooner "Racer" was lost off Bardsey.


1865 - An Austrian sailing ship was lost off Rhiw.


1866 - Dec. 6th the Schooner "Henry Catherine" was wrecked at Hells mouth, only one soul was saved.


1866 - The Barques "Robert Jones" and "Isolina" were built at Nefyn.


1866 - The Brigantine "Columbia" was lost at Porthdinllaen.

- The Provincial Shipowners Marine Protection Society was formed at Nefyn. Also the Provincial A.I. Mutual Marine Insurance Co.


1867 - The Schooner "Six Brothers" was wrecked at Porthdinllaen.


1867 - The Schooner "Vine" of Nefyn was lost off Tudweiliog.

1868 - The Schooner "Joseph Nicholson" 99 tons, was built at Nefyn by Rees Davies. The owner/master was David Davies. Lost 1884.


1868 - A ship carrying timber was wrecked at Aberdaron.


1868 - Ancient Briton Mutual Marine Insurance Society formed at Nefyn.


1869 - The Schooner "Voelas" was lost near Bardsey.


1869 - Cambrian Freight and Outfit Insurance Co. formed at Nefyn.

1870 - The Schooner "Miss Pritchard" built at Nefyn.

1870- In October the American ship "Sorrento" on a passage from Liverpool to New Orleans was wrecked off Llangwnnadl.

1870 - The Schooner "Nymph" was wrecked at Porthdinllaen.


1870 - The lifeboat station was established at Abersoch.


1872 - Victoria Mutual Marine Insurance Society established at Nefyn.


1872 - North Wales Mutual Marine Marine Insurance Co. formed at Nefyn.


1873 - The Brig "Sybile Wynne" was launched at Porthdinllaen. On the morning of her launch, Ieuan Gwyllt preached aboard her.

1874 - The Schooner "Reindeer" 75 tons, built at Nefyn in 1841 was wrecked at Bardsey with a cargo of slates for Coles of London.


1875
- Jan. the steam ship "Cardigan" collided with another steamer in Cardigan Bay whilst on a passage from Cardigan to Belfast. She drifted ashore at Pwllheli where she became a total wreck.


1875 - The Schooner "Martha was wrecked off Pistyll.


1877 - Ancient Britain Iron Sailing Ship Co. formed at Nefyn.

1878- The combined valuation of vessels insured with various insurance companies in Nefyn, totalled over £2,000,000 during this year.


1878 - A fog horn was established at Bardsey.


1878 - The last Schooner to be built at Pwllheli, the"W.D.Potts" & the Brig "Carl & Louise" 183 tons, were launched.


1879
- 6 lives were saved when the Steam ship "Baron" was in distress off Porthdinllaen.


1879 - The North and South Wales Iron Sailing Ship Freight and Outfit Co., formed at Nefyn.


1879 - The Schooner "Weaver" was wrecked at Porthor, Aberdaron.

1880 - 1899

1880- The last schooner to be launched at Nefyn was the "Venus"

1881- On march 3rd, the "Royal Charter" of Porthmadog wrecked on Maen mellt whilst in balast on route for Dublin.

1881- On October 14th The Leyland steamer the "Cyprian" was wrecked at Porth Cwmistir, Edern. Of the crew of 22, only 8 survived.

1881 - The Schooner "Miss Beck" lost at Porthdinllaen.

1881 - Nefyn Shipowners Mutual Marine Protection Assoc., Co. formed.

1882 - The Nefyn built Schooner "Sedelous" (1849) was wrecked on Porthmadog bar on 3rd Jan., with a cargo of Iron ore and dynamite.

1882 - The Barque "Lady Hings" wrecked off Trefor.

1883 - The Barque "Perseveranza" stranded at Hells Mouth.

1884 - The Scottish Brig "Luther" wrecked at Porth Iago, whilst on a passage from Dundee to Newfoundland.

1884 - Prydain Steam Ship Co. formed at Nefyn.

1888 - The Schooner "Ann Jones" 85 tons, of Pwllheli, lost in the Humber.

1889 - Lifeboat station established at Trefor.

1890 - Pwllheli and Nefyn Mutual Marine Insurance Co. was wound up.

1891 - Pwllheli lifeboat station established. The first lifeboat there was the "Margaret Platt".

1891 - The Schooner "William" was wrecked at Porth Colmon.

1893 - March 15th, the steam ship "Glendarrock" in distress off Pwllheli, 11 lives saved.

1893 - July 7th, two men drown through capsizing during the Nefyn regatta.

1894 - The Smack "Dauntless" of Jersey, wrecked at Porthdinllaen.

1894 - The Smack "Alpha" sank off Pwllheli.

1894 - Trefor lifeboat station closed.

1896 - June 6th. the Schooner "Idea" wrecked at Hells Mouth.

1898 - The Schooners "Joseph Nickolson" and "Twelve Apostles" wrecked at Hells Mouth.

1899- On July 1st, 12 lives, mostly children were lost in a boating accident off Pwllheli.

1901- The Barque "Stuart" was wrecked at Porth Ty Mawr, Llangwnnadl whilst on a passage from Liverpool to Newzealand.

1901 - A ship belonging to "White Abbey" was washed ashore at Pwllheli. It had foundered in the Irish sea 15 months previously.

1902 - The Schooner "fossil" was wrecked at Llanbedrog.

1903 - Work stsrted on the new harbour at Pwllheli.

1904 - The Schooner "Miss Prichard" (Built 1870 at Nefyn), was lost off Cape wrath, bound for Copenhagen with slates.

1905 - The Schooner "Gowerian" was wrecked at Abersoch.

1907 - March 16th, The Schooner "Brothers" built at Nefyn, was lost off Abersoch.

1908 - The "Lusitania", the Cunard liner, was seen passing the Llyn coast.

1909 - The Schooner "Ann & Jane Pritchard" (built Pwllheli 1859) was lost in a collision.

1910 - The Ketch "Sarah" was wrecked at Porthdinllaen.

1912 - March 28th, The Schooner "Margaret & Elizabeth" wrecked at Porth Iago whilst carrying a cargo of coal for Rhiw.

1914 - Jan, 26th,The Schooner "Harvest Home" was wrecked near Uwchmynydd, Aberdaron with a cargo of china clay.

1916 - Jan, 2nd, The ship "Porthalloch" wrecked at Sarn Padrig, Abersoch. It was bound for 'Frisco with a cargo of nitrate of soda.

1916 - A number of German Submarines were sighted off the coast of Llyn.

1917 - The C.P.R. liner seen passing through Bardsey sound.

1917 - Many convoys seen passing the coast of Llyn.

1918 - The Liner "Oransa" torpedoed off Bardsey.

1918- A large number of bodies from the ships "Leinster" and the "Burutu" washed ashore along the coast of Lleyn.

1920 - 1941

1920- Nefyn sailing regatta held again for the first time in years.

1924 - South Caernarfonshire Yacht Club formed.

1926 - Christening ceremony for "M.O.Y.E.", the first motor lifeboat in Llyn at Porthdinllaen.

1927 - Abersoch lifeboat station closed.

1927 - The steam ship "Matje" was driven ashore at Porthdinllaen.

1930 - Coastguard station established at Porthdinllaen.

1931 - The motor lifeboat "William Macpherson" stationed at Pwllheli.

1931 - Criccieth lifeboat station closed.

1932 - The M.V. Maraboe was grounded at Carreg y Llam between Pistyll and Nant Gwrtheyrn. It was re-floated the following day with the assistance of the tug "Ranger".

1933 - March 22nd. A small fishing boat with two men onboard, were blown out to sea off Tudweiliog. They landed in County Down in Ireland 35 hours later.

1934 - Aug. The steam ship "Pultney" with a cargo of coal from Penmaenmawr, sunk in a collision with the s.s. "Thelma" off Bardsey.

1934 - Oct. The Greek steamer "Dimitros Inglesos" put into Porthdinllaen for repairs.

1934 - Death of Mrs Jones Ty Coch Inn, the only woman Harbourmaster in the country.

1934 - The R.M.S. "Queen Mary" was seen passing Bardsey by the people of Aberdaron.

1935 - The yacht "Helfa" wrecked off Edern.

1935 - Seven destroyers anchored at Hells Mouth.

1937 - The s.s. "Oakvilla" ashore at Porth Nant.

1940 - H.M.S. Glendower, a Naval shore training establishment was built at Afonwen.

1940 - Dutch tanker towed to Porthdinllaen, after being bombed off Bardsey.

1941 - Oil tanker bombed, and set afire off the coast of Llyn.

1942 - Dec. The Danish steamer "Knut" hit a mine off Bardsey. 15 members of the crew landed in the ships lifeboat at Porthdinllaen.

1942 - A large number of mines were washed ashore along the coasts of Llyn.

1951 - The "Amy Summerfield was wrecked at Nant Gwrtheyrn.

The Museum is housed in the Old Church on the site of a 6th century Celtic church. There is a weather vane shaped as a full rigged ship on the tower.

Through painting, photographs and artefacts is shown the local maritime history including ship building, coasting vessels, herring industry and also everyday life at the turn of the 19th century.
